Heather Goumas

Heather is originally from Massachusetts where she started riding at age 9. She developed an interest in dressage and combined training at age 13. She continued to gain experience throughout her teenage years working for a local trainer riding a variety of horses with different disciplines.

Heather has a B.S. in Movement science and an M.S. in physical therapy. She has also been certified in equine sports massage therapy since 1999. Her riding and coaching techniques draw heavily from her knowledge of the biomechanics of both humans and horses.

Champagne Run Farm in Lexington, KY has been her home base since 2005. Heather enjoys teaching people of all ages and skill levels. Her teaching focuses on helping riders become aware of their bodies and how movements of the horse and rider influence one another.

Champagne Run Farm is also where she rides, trains, and boards her own horse. Heather currently rides and trains a variety of horses from the very beginning level through 4th level. She is schooling her horse, Fred, at 3rd level. They actively compete in eventing.

Heather has participated in a number of clinics over the years. Most recently she rode with Jim Graham who is an I judge for Rolex and international event rider. She also continues to build her skills training with Grand Prix rider Marina Nikolayenko.

Horses in her training have come out to win at their level with scores of 70% or better. She won the training level dressage at Octoberfest horse trials in 2007.

Heather and her husband Jason with their 5 year old daughter Aidan reside in Lexington, Kentucky.
